Common questions
Short answers to the questions people bring to a market-hours reference.
- Is the stock market open on weekends?
- No. The equity exchanges listed here are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Forex sessions run from Sunday evening to Friday evening in the relevant market timezones.
- How does this site show times in my timezone?
- The first paint uses UTC. After load, times switch to the timezone reported by your browser. You can override it from the header. The site does not use IP geolocation.
- What is a high-activity window?
- A high-activity window is a period of historically elevated volume, such as the US cash open or the London–New York overlap. It describes typical activity, not a forecast or a trading signal.
- Are forex session hours official exchange hours?
- No. Sydney, Tokyo, London, and New York session hours are conventions for when each region is typically most active. They are not exchange bells, and they can differ by broker.
